The Art of Gnathology

The first day (Theory and some practice)

• Functional anatomy of the stomatognathic system, detailed analysis of the basic terms;
• The articulators and a face-bow – the classifications and application;
• Algorithm of comprehensive diagnosis in the stomatognathic system – theoretical aspects, the diagnosis methods in various clinical cases;
• The commanding and interdisciplinary approach among the dentists in various areas to the diagnosis and planning of occlusion therapy.
• Practical demonstration of the use of the articulators and a face-bow.

The second day (Theory and some practice)

• Application of the face-bow, discussion of the feasibility;
• Manual functional diagnostics (dental examination, the muscles, TMJ);
• Registration of various therapeutic positions of the lower jaw, various techniques (jig, Dawson’s bimanual manipulation technique, bite-wax registration techniques, registration of the myocentric);
• Gypsum model in articulator according with the face-bow and various registers, the comparison of the results;
• Clinical analysis of static and dynamic occlusion; testing of manual skills.
